How Undialing Works
Understanding Strict Mode
When Strict Mode is enabled, you have chosen to lock yourself in. You cannot delete Dial, adjust the timer, or end your session early except by paying a small fee to undial.
No Subscriptions
Unlike apps that charge monthly whether you use them or not, you only pay when you actually break a session. Most days, Dial costs nothing.
Chain-Based Pricing
Undial uses a chain system that helps you recognize patterns:
The Chain
- First undial during a session: $0.59
- If you schedule a reblock and undial again: $1.09
- Undial a third time from a reblock: $1.49 (capped)
Resetting the Chain
The price resets to $0.59 when you:
- Complete a reblock session without undialing
- Start a fresh "Dial In Now" session
Why This Design?
The $0.59 starting price is low enough to allow flexibility. The escalating cost helps you notice when you are stuck in the "just 15 more minutes" loop.
Breaking your commitment once costs a dollar. Breaking it repeatedly gets more expensive. This is not punishment. It is feedback. It makes the pattern visible and gives it real weight.
This design is rooted in behavioral economics: small, escalating friction points help reveal unconscious patterns and create moments of awareness.
